Maureen was selected from a strong group of professionals who lead nonprofits during transition periods. She brings a passion for Doorways' mission, nearly two decades of nonprofit leadership and consulting experience, and deep connections to our community. Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month 1 in 3 teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse by someone they are in a relationship with before they become adults. Every February across the United States, teens and those who support them join together for a national effort to raise awareness to teen dating violence. Learn more. The 2020 TDVAM campaign theme is #1Thing By just learning or doing one thing, you can start the conversation about healthy relationships in your friend circles, schools, and communities. Everyone has a part in ending dating abuse, even if that one thing seems small in the moment. Every step towards ending dating violence is an important one! Check out the Arlington Healthy Relationships Task Force (Arlington HRT) The Arlington HRT (Project PEACE) is a group of students Arlington high schools who raise awareness about sexual assault and healthy relationships. The Task Force promotes awareness through educational campaigns, meetings and outreach efforts throughout Arlington County Public Schools. Learn more. Black History Month Before the bus, Rosa Parks was a sexual assault investigator "One part of this was protecting black men from false accusations and lynchings; the other was ensuring that black people who had been sexually assaulted by white people could get their day in court." Complex Justice: Recognizing racism, sexism, and the fight for equality "During Black History Month, the National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV) celebrates strong Black leaders, present and past, and acknowledges how much progress we have made to ensure racial justice.
