Dear Friend,

Henry “Duke” Boswell had one of the most dangerous jobs in the army during World
War II: he was a paratrooper.

Duke enlisted at age 16 and became a paratrooper in 1942. He carried out four
combat jumps—in Sicily, Italy, Normandy and Holland. When he made his first
jump, in Sicily, his company had 146 men. By the time he made his final jump in
Germany two years later, just 13 remained. The rest had either been killed or
wounded so badly that they couldn’t return to action.

“Your plane might get hit before you get there. You might be killed as soon as
you hit the ground,” Duke said. “You had seen many of your friends wounded or
killed… You just lived from day to day. And you didn’t think about it very
much.”

Friend, the American Air Museum in Britain is able to
safeguard the legacy of heroes like Duke Boswell and countless other Americans
who took to the skies in defense of freedom thanks to the generous support of
our members.

To sustain our vital educational and memorial mission this year, the American
Air Museum is kicking off our Membership Month today. And a generous member is
