Team,
As our nation reflects on 60 years since 1963, a transformational year in the civil rights movement, I am reminded of the progress that we have made in this span of time and the work that lies ahead as we relentlessly pursue the full promise of our democracy.

Our movement draws strength from the courage and conviction President Kennedy showed 60 years ago when he called for civil rights legislation in a nationally-televised address -- and the tireless civil rights workers, organizers, and activists who carried the torch of progress forward, even as they were met with fierce opposition, violence, and brutality. It is in these extraordinary moments -- these complex and contradictory chapters in the life of our nation -- that America’s character is revealed, and our future determined.
Our nation’s history since 1963 has been marked by both remarkable struggle and progress. Last week, our movement for fair maps secured a huge victory with the landmark redistricting decision, Allen v. Milligan, ultimately setting course for Black Alabamians to have equal representation in their state. And though we are celebrating this momentous victory, we can never be satisfied with mere “progress.” Progress is not our goal; it is simply a measure of our commitment, a marker in time. Our pursuit for equal representation and justice must continue -- and it must endure.
Now, more than ever, our work inside and outside the courts, in our communities, and at the ballot box is crucial to achieving fair maps. Will you support our work and chip into All On The Line today? >> [link removed]
As we continue to celebrate last week’s triumph in Alabama and honor those who have paved the way for our freedoms, we must set a course for the future. We must strive for true equality and justice in every facet of our society. Our journey toward equal rights and fair representation stretches beyond the horizon. I implore you, my friends, to be inspired -- and, more importantly, to be impatient. Do not settle for mere progress; strive for lasting change.
