Hi John,
Next week I’ll be in conversation with organizers and leaders from across the country who are taking the fight to greedy private utilities, building the clean energy infrastructure we desperately need, and reimagining our electric system so that it actually works for everyday people. Right now, private utility corporations in the US hold outsized power over our energy system. From how our electricity is generated to what we have to pay to access it, private utility corporations are making decisions that prioritize their profits and harm people, our communities, and the planet.
But workers, organizers, and everyday people are fighting back to build a system that is just, sustainable, and accessible to all. Join us next Tuesday, June 20th at 12pm PT / 3pm ET for Energy Democracy: A Conversation from the Frontlines to learn how communities across the US are organizing locally for energy democracy. We’ll be joined by:
- Felicia Allen, Green Workers Alliance
- Jessica Tovar, East Bay Clean Power Alliance & Local Clean Energy Alliance
- Lee Matsueda, Community Labor United
-
Raya Salter, The Energy Justice Law and Policy Center & The Movement for Black Lives

We all need electricity, and greedy private utility corporations would have us believe that their way is the only way. That’s why we’re collaborating with The Movement for Black Lives, Slow Factory, The Climate Museum, and Sunrise Movement to help shed light (get it?) on how these private utilities are actually standing in the way of climate progress, racial justice, public health, good jobs, and affordable power.
We can win a future where everyday people have reliable, affordable electricity; where energy workers have good, life-sustaining jobs; where our neighbors can breathe clean air; and where our planet is respected and taken care of while still nourishing us. We can have this and more with Energy Democracy, an energy system governed by everyday people. I hope you’ll join us next week! |
