Democrat,
It’s been almost a week since the 2023 NJDSC Conference Road Trip and we are all still feeling the enthusiasm and motivation we experienced from meeting with our Democratic community across New Jersey - and hope you are too!

While we were disappointed to have to cancel our Thursday plans in light of the wildfire weather effects, Friday and Saturday lived up to this year’s conference theme, which was once again Where We’ve Been and Where We’re Going . Visiting different parts of the state allowed us to connect with Democratic voters in multiple communities and celebrate New Jersey’s unique history while coming together to chart a course to a more progressive future. Here’s a brief recap of our weekend on the road:

We kicked off the conference on Friday in East Brunswick, where the afternoon began with an Interfaith Panel Discussion that featured religious leaders from across the state: Reverend Thuselle C. Williams (Moderator), Imam Khalil Abdullah, Rajvir S. Goomer, Dipal Pandya, Reverend Idida Rodriguez, and Rabbi Robert Wolkoff. The discussion highlighted the significance of community and mutual understanding across different faith traditions. Through meaningful dialogue, they emphasized the shared values that unite us all, and help create a more inclusive society. We are excited to announce the launch of our Interfaith Committee from our panel discussion. Join the Interfaith Committee here! [[link removed]]

Following the panel, Governor Murphy, Chairman LeRoy Jones, Vice-Chair Peg Schaffer, Middlesex Democratic Chairman Kevin McCabe, NJDSC Data Director Dave Parano, and Coalitions Director Kinn Badger hit the stage for the State Committee Meeting to talk out what Dems have been able to accomplish and what work still needs to be done to continue making New Jersey a more equitable and fair place for everyone.

The first day of the conference closed out with a cocktail party where Democrats from across the state were welcomed to meet and mingle with local leaders and celebrate all that NJ Dems have accomplished for our state - and the country.

Saturday morning we met up in West Orange for the Conference Closeout Brunch where attendees heard from Congresswomen Mikie Sherrill, Chairman Jones, Vice-Chair Schaffer, and LGBTQ+ Caucus Chair Lauren Albrecht. Awards were also presented to former NJDSC Chairman John Currie for his service and dedication to NJDSC and to our South Asian American Caucus for celebrating 10 years.
Thank you to everyone who gathered with us throughout New Jersey and shared an enthusiastic energy for the future of our state - we are feeling inspired and excited for what’s to come.
