Programs inside our Adult Emergency Shelter

We believe that together we can do more. This is why we build collaborative relationships with partners to ensure that every family and adult we serve have the resources and access they need to break the cycle of homelessness. And, when individuals need services beyond our scope, we rely on an extensive network of partners to fill the gaps and specialized areas, including mental health, medical services, health insurance, employment services, and survivor support.

New this year, our team at the Adult Emergency Shelter is hosting monthly Resource Fairs with our partners to bring critical resources directly to our participants. Organizations like Easterseals, Waypoint, Amoskeag Health, New Hampshire Healthy Families, Job Corp, YWCA, CMC’s Healthcare for the Homeless, and 603 Legal Aid are just a few of the partners that join us. Last month, the New Hampshire DMV was on site to provide our participants with state identification cards and other applications. We are thrilled to share that over 30 providers attended April’s Resource Fair, with federal, state, city, and non-profit sectors present to provide individuals with resources, support, and hope.

Thank you for supporting the 33rd Annual Walk Against Hunger

Every day we are working to combat food insecurity in Manchester. Our Food Pantry provides access to fresh and nutritious food in a dignified shopping setting. Last year, we welcomed nearly 2,800 households. And our dining services program served more than 191,000 meals to our program participants. The annual Walk Against Hunger helps us raise crucial funds to support our food programs to continue to meet our community's needs.

Last month, on Sunday, May 21, we welcomed approximately 620 people to Veteran’s Park. With the help of 59 teams (the most ever!!!), individual walkers, donors, staff, volunteers, and a few four-legged friends, we raised $169,000 to support our mission. We love setting records, but we love the turnout, support, and commitment our community shows yearly. Thank you!

Beyond New Hampshire: Finding Your Place

Earlier this month, a series on homelessness was released called Finding Your Place ([link removed]). This collection of stories took a complex look at the many factors, drivers, and impacts of homelessness. From the complicated role of mental illness to the economics of homelessness, these stories provide interesting insights into the work our mission compels us to do – to prevent and break the cycle of homelessness.
