Folks, last week Gov. Newsom proposed a historic amendment to the Constitution in an effort to combat the gun violence plaguing the nation. 

The amendment will permanently enshrine the four broadly supported gun safety principles into the U.S. Constitution:

→ Raising the federal minimum age to purchase a gun from 18 to 21;

→ Mandating universal background checks to prevent dangerous individuals from purchasing a gun;

→ Creating a mandatory waiting period for all gun purchases;

→ And banning the sale of assault weapons. 

Gun proponents like the NRA have called Gov. Newsom’s plan “unhinged” - but there’s nothing more unhinged than the needless death our country faces every day thanks to the weapons of war on our streets.
