Far-right Republicans are plotting a takeover of the North Carolina Board of Elections that would allow them to throw contested election results to the GOP-controlled General Assembly. Control over the administration of elections would also give Republicans a chance to make it easier to suppress the votes of their opponents and rig elections in their favor.

You can’t make this up. It’s an assault on our democracy, plain and simple.

They’ve tried this game before — but the NC Supreme Court shut them down. Now, radical Republicans are counting on their partisan Supreme Court majority to side with their election-stealing schemes.

And when they put it on the ballot to try to co-opt the Board of Elections through a referendum, voters overwhelmingly defeated their measure.

We have stopped their plot before. We CAN and WILL do so again.
