Friend, do you know how you’re reclaiming your power this week yet? 💡
Like you, and probably every other young person in this country, I am fed up & tired of policies that threaten our rights. Yesterday, I wrote a letter to my governor to remind him that it is his duty to champion the rights of young people of color. ✍️😤 Mine was one of hundreds of letters sent to governors across the country this week in our fight for the future we want. Are you ready to make your voice heard too?
This week, we’re all fighting back against harmful policies across the country, like Florida’s SB 1718 that allows hospitals to inquire about our immigration status and book bans in Texas & Pennsylvania that limit our freedom to learn. The 📣✊Our States, Our Power Week of Action ✊📣 is in full force, and there’s still 3 DAYS LEFT for you to join our fight
Here’s what you can do!
✍️SEND YOUR OWN LETTER! No one knows what youth in District of Columbia need better than you do. Use our template to write a quick letter to your governor & demand the policies you want to see in your streets.
📢ATTEND OR HOST AN EVENT NEAR YOU! Did you know some folks are hand-delivering their community letters to their elected officials? Click here to check what people in District of Columbia are doing to make their demands known. Don’t see an event near you? You still have time to host your own!
Friend, it’s never too late to reclaim your power. People like you, me & the hundreds of youth who have participated in our Week of Action so far make up the fabric of our community. We know the future our people need, so let’s fight to make it happen. Are you joining me?
📲 Invite your friends!
In unity,
Alex and the UWD Action team
