Real Justice

John, our movement won in San Francisco by electing Chesa Boudin, and now we have the chance to continue our momentum:

Next we’re setting our sights extremely high – winning the most important district attorney seat there is.

Los Angeles County has the largest jail system in the world. It’s the county with the most urgent need for reform and the most potential to impact justice reform across the nation.

That’s why we’re excited to announce that Real Justice is supporting both George Gascón and Rachel Rossi to be the next DA of Los Angeles. We're proudly choosing to endorse both candidates because we need all hands on deck to get DA Jackie Lacey out of office.

Can you contribute $5 right now to help reform the largest jail system in the world and elect a reform-minded DA in Los Angeles?

Contribute $5

The current DA, Jackie Lacey, fueled the mass incarceration machine, opposed key reforms (ending cash bail, legalizing marijuana, repealing the death penalty), and failed to hold police accountable for brutalizing communities.

Under Lacey’s watch, Los Angeles sentenced more people to death than any other county in the country – all people of color.

Los Angeles is my home. We have built a movement here to Reform LA Jails, and we’ve already made history. I know it’s possible to make sure no new jails are built, that no one with mental illness is brutally put behind bars, and that we invest in community-based care. But electing a new DA is a critical step.

The district attorney is the most important elected position to facilitate our new vision for care, dignity, and healing – and to stop harm, neglect, and criminalization in our jails.

Gascón is clear that he is going to be responsive to the needs of people with mental illness in this county and he is clear that he is going to hold law enforcement accountable. Rachel Rossi has been a clarifying voice in her candidacy. She has been unapologetic in taking on DA Lacey in her policies but also publicly. I can’t wait to finally elect a District Attorney that cares for the most vulnerable.

So please: we urgently need your help to replace DA Jackie Lacey. Can you make a contribution right now to help us transform the largest jail system in the world?

We can do this. Here we go y’all!!!
