Run for Something

Hi there --

Contrary to popular belief, the best way to make a measurable difference when it comes to protecting the future of our democracy is not to obsessively track each and every vote cast in the presidential primary. In fact, tweeting about a caucus hasn't been proven to affect the outcome of a national election one bit.

What can improve outcomes? Local candidates. A candidate for city council or state legislature will knock on hundreds of doors, talking to folks about their concerns and hopes. They'll make personal connections with voters who feel left out or left behind by national politics. And on election day, those voters will turns out -- and they'll likely vote their whole ballot, too.

Luckily, we've got local candidates in spades, and they're all working their hearts out to reach the voters in their communities. All you have to do is make sure they have a friendly organization to turn to when they get stuck by chipping in $10, $25, or $50 today.
