United Food & Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 400 is moving forward with launching the Union Kitchen boycott on Friday, June 16, 2023 with a kickoff event at the 1625 Eckington Pl NE store at 11:00 am. Workers from Union Kitchen and Local 400 staff will be present at the kickoff to hand out leaflets and speak to customers about their fight against the company’s union busting. Our team at DC JWJ is working closely with Local 400 to provide boycott support and solidarity as they plan to have people stationed outside various Union Kitchen locations every day for the rest of June.

As a coalition, we are asking for volunteers to sign up for daily leafleting shifts beginning Saturday, June 17th. We’re starting with two Union Kitchen locations — Eckington and 9th Street — and three hour shifts from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm. If you are interested in volunteering click here let us know.
