It’s a hectic time in Washington, friend.

With all the news surrounding the Trump indictment and the growing field of Republican presidential candidates, some important pieces of news risk getting lost in the noise.

Here’s one thing I thought should have gotten more play: the far-right’s Freedom Caucus recently held the House of Representatives and the entire legislative branch hostage for three full days.

The Freedom Caucus, which includes people like Reps. Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert, tanked a procedural vote out of pure spite for Kevin McCarthy. And here’s the thing: they prevented the chamber from voting on policies they supported.

This was a purely political stunt to try to make McCarthy look bad, and it ended up being the first time a rules package had failed in the House since 2002. The Freedom Caucus literally prevented the rest of us from governing – in service of their petty political goals.

This underscores the vital importance of Democrats retaking the House majority in 2024. We can’t allow the extremists in the House Freedom Caucus to wield any more power, and we have to win every swing district we can – including IL-17 – to turn the House blue once again.

Will you help us take an important step toward winning back the House majority by chipping in $3 to my re-election campaign? Defending this seat will help ensure the House Freedom Caucus has as little influence as possible.

Thank you, as always, for your generous support.

Take care,
