We’ve got SEEC Co-Chair Paul Tonko to thank for leading the wind energy charge in Congress.

John, the benefits of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) just keep rolling in.

The U.S. wind market has taken some pretty heavy hits over the last few years, leading to a worrisome downturn industry-wide. But because of the billions of dollars President Biden and our Members invested in clean energy projects and greenhouse gas emissions reductions, the U.S. onshore wind industry is seeing its second renaissance.

That’s not all, though.

Because of the funding from the IRA, top energy companies like General Electric have created hundreds of jobs at wind plants across the country — and we’ve got SEEC Co-Chair Paul Tonko (NY-20) to thank. His consistent leadership in Congress to usher in a wind energy future is how this vital policy ultimately became law.

More jobs, cleaner energy, and a climate-forward future: That’s the IRA way, John!

While onshore wind is booming, we can’t forget about the burgeoning new offshore wind market, though. Rep. Tonko is still fighting to direct funding for offshore wind energy projects, and our Members are working tirelessly in Congress to continue expanding our renewable energy efforts across the board.

With so many dire climate updates, we’re always happy to hit your inbox with the positive effects of SEEC Members’ leadership. But as we look ahead to both the rest of the year and 2024, we know Republicans will be more motivated than ever to derail our progress and roll back key policies from the Inflation Reduction Act that have made this trend of good news possible.

Last year, you helped us elect our largest SEEC class yet — and we’re working to expand our numbers even more in 2024. Even if you can only give a couple bucks today, your donation will help give us the wind we need in our sails to elect a green majority. Are you with us?
