John, whether you've been standing alongside me during my time in the Illinois House, or whether you found out who I was yesterday, the message is the same –
I'm committed to representing our working families and fighting for their best interests.
It's been roughly 5 months since I was sworn into Congress, and it has been one of the most rewarding and difficult experiences of my life.
I'd like to tell you a little more about myself and what my team and I have been able to accomplish so far, but I understand if you can't stay and read the whole thing. Before you go, I'm relying on grassroots support to get us on the right track toward 2024 elections – will you become an early supporter and chip in today? [[link removed]]

Before I dive in, I want you to know a little bit of my story. I'm the daughter of Guatemalan immigrants – they taught me the value of serving your community and working hard early on.
As a kid, my family lived above a church in Humboldt Park, exchanging hard work for cheaper rent. We regularly volunteered at soup kitchens and food pantries, and it was here that I discovered my passion for helping others.
And since, I've organized in my community, and even represented us in the IL House to do exactly that. Now, let's talk through some of the highlights of my time in Congress:
1️⃣ I was a strong voice for my communities. Earlier this year, I was honored to give a response to the State of the Union on behalf of the Working Families Party , where I laid out my vision for how our government could better serve our working families.
Most recently, I spoke on behalf of the Congressional Progressive Caucus to talk about how Republicans were using the debt ceiling as a way to hold our economy hostage at the expense of millions of working families.
2️⃣ I proposed life-changing legislation for our communities. I wasted no time getting to work for the people in my communities. As a member of the Veterans Affairs Committee, I've introduced legislation that tackles the healthcare worker shortage they're experiencing, and makes it easier for veterans to pursue their education.
3️⃣ I haven't forgotten about the people back home. Reminiscent of my own time on the campaign trail, I spent a lot of time knocking on doors and attending events to champion for candidates who share my vision of a better Illinois. Most recently, Chicago's new mayor, Brandon Johnson, named me as part of his transition committee! Having cheered him on since day 1, I am so excited to see the hard work we put in on the ground translate to helping people in our cities.
John, this is only a peek into everything we've been able to do so far. I want to continue, but my team and I are already preparing for my next election. Getting my movement off on the right foot will take a solid foundation of early grassroots support – can our team count on your support? [[link removed]]
