On January 6th, 2021 when our nation’s Capitol was under an insurrectionist attack by armed white supremacists, Sen. Josh Hawley was giving the mob a fist bump salute. Since then, Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene has stated that had she led the insurrection, “we would have won.”^[1]

In contrast, Rep. Cori Bush had just been sworn into office and immediately crafted her first resolution in Congress, to expel members of Congress who tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election and invalidate the votes of millions of people -- especially Black, brown, and Indigenous voters.

Yesterday, the former white supremacist-in-chief Donald Trump appeared in court after being charged with 37 felonies, including conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Like the white supremacist insurrectionists, Trump is guilty of sedition and should be banned from holding federal office. Click here to add your name and demand every state remove Donald Trump’s name from the 2024 presidential ballot.

Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment prohibits anyone who has taken an oath of office from holding office if they have “engaged in insurrection or rebellion.”

Donald Trump incited white supremacist attacks and an attempted coup that put thousands of lives in danger, leaving five people dead. And, leading up to January 6th, Trump and his surrogates sought to intimidate state officials into overturning the election results.

One year ago, a judge in New Mexico ruled to bar a County Commissioner from holding office for his role in the January 6th attack.^[2]

It’s time to hold others accountable for their racist, hateful attacks on our democracy and attempts to overthrow our government, including members of Congress who are continuing to push their fascist agendas.

Now with Trump’s recent indictment, it’s clearer than ever that he has repeatedly broken his oath of office. Let’s continue building momentum to hold him accountable and defend our democracy.
