"Supreme Court backs voting rights law, tosses Alabama congressional map"
Johh,
Last week, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the Voting Rights Act and struck down a Republican gerrymandered congressional map because it discriminated against Black voters.
This ruling could also lead to the creation of new, fair congressional maps in other states including Louisiana and South Carolina.
While this ruling is great news, it's sad to say that in 2023, voting rights are still under attack in America and gerrymandering is used to silence minority populations. Diana knows there is much left to do to achieve voter equality in this country.
Ever since she started her journey as a public servant in the role of a public defender, Diana has been committed to upholding and protecting every citizen's fundamental right to be heard by their government. In Congress, she has a long history of introducing, sponsoring, and promoting bills geared to this very end.
She is ready to keep up the fight and continue making sure that every American is afforded one of the most important civil rights — regardless of location or race. By passing key legislation like the Voting Rights Advancement Act and taking action to ensure state maps are fair, Diana knows our country can create progress for everyone.
