John,
Over the past three years, the Trump administration has rolled back environmental regulations, cut funding for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and taken steps to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement.
So it shouldn't surprise any of us, however disappointing, that the president failed to even mention climate change during his State of the Union address last week.
Let's be clear: Climate change is the greatest moral issue of our time.
While President Trump prioritizes profits and deregulation over the health of the planet, I'm committed to climate action. From deadly wildfires to destructive hurricanes, we are already seeing the devastating effects of climate change, and we know if we don't act now, it's only going to get worse.
Our country has always worked together to take on the greatest challenges of our times, and climate change is now our greatest challenge. If you agree it's time to take bold action to save our planet, add your name today >>
As a pediatrician, scientist, and former EPA employee, I look at the facts. And right now, the facts are telling us we only have a few years to make major changes before we see irreversible, profound damage.
I'm fighting every day in Congress to protect our planet, and last year I helped pass the Climate Action Now Act, which would help us meet the goals and ambitions of the Paris Climate Agreement. But there are so many more steps we need to take, and I'm committed to investing in clean energy, improving disaster preparedness, using economic incentives to move away from a fossil fuel based economy, and more.
The only way we're going to enact lasting changes that will fight climate change is if we all work together. The time for action is now.
We can't afford to ignore this crisis any longer. If you agree we need bold action to combat the climate crisis right now, add your name.
Thank you,
Kim
