Hi John,
I’m Nancy Rotering, the mayor of Highland Park, Illinois.
Gabe Amo was the first call I received from the White House after a mass shooting shattered my community last summer. As President Biden’s Deputy Director for Intergovernmental Affairs, he was a constant source of communication from Washington, D.C. and helped to kick start the process of healing in Highland Park.
When the cameras left, and we were left with the devastation and trauma of that awful day, Gabe was the person who continued to give us hope.
And that’s why I’m proud to support Gabe Amo for Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District.
Some will wonder why the mayor of a town in Illinois is asking voters in Rhode Island’s First Congressional District to support Gabe’s campaign for Congress. The answer is clear: gun violence is a crisis that affects all of us.
We need common sense gun safety legislation at the federal level and Gabe is ready to stand up to the gun lobby and protect Rhode Island’s communities. Rhode Islanders deserve — and are demanding — an elected leader in Congress who can be an effective advocate for the safety of communities across Rhode Island and around the country. That person is Gabe Amo.
