Friend,
Right now, Democrats across the country are laser-focused on 2020, and rightfully so: this is one of the most important elections of our lifetime. I cannot understate how crucial it is for all of us to do whatever we can to defeat Donald Trump and his Republican enablers.
But at the same time, we can’t forget about our local communities. As both the Somerset County Democratic Chair and the Vice Chair of NJDSC, I have worked hand in hand with Governor Murphy, Chairman Currie and our entire team to make sure that we invest in the resources needed to defeat Republicans at the municipal and county levels.
The results speak for themselves. In 2018, with tremendous help from grassroots advocates, we elected Rep. Andy Kim, Rep. Tom Malinowski, and Rep. Mikie Sherrill in formerly Republican districts. In 2019, we followed that up with major wins on the local and county levels, including flipping control of the Somerset County Freeholder Board to Democrats for the first time since the 1960s and electing a Democratic sheriff .
Those wins are just a few examples of what we can do when we invest in local grassroots momentum. This year is the time to really make that momentum count!
When we mobilize from the bottom up, we bring monumental change. I hope that this year you will connect with your local party if you haven’t already, or contribute what you can to help NJ Democrats win in November! [[link removed]]
