Today’s Action: Tell Target to put Pride merchandise back on the shelves!
Big-box retailer Target has sadly elected to pull multiple LGBTQ+ friendly pride products from their shelves after being pummeled with threats and complaints from rabid, right-wing homophobes accusing them of “sexualizing children.”
It’s just another shameful show of cowardice from a major corporation that styles itself as an ally of the LGBTQ+ community — but apparently only when it’s good for their bottom line. It’s now up to Target to prove that their theatrical allyship is for real and not just a money-making stunt that they’ll abandon once they must take a real stand.
Call Target’s corporate office (1-800-440-0680), select the “store experience” option, and kindly remind them that LGBTQ+ representation MATTERS! Then, sign this petition to tell them to put Pride merchandise back on the shelves.
Self-described Christian fascist Matt Walsh called for a boycott of the stores, saying “the goal is to make ‘pride’ toxic for brands. If they decide to shove this garbage in our face, they should know that they’ll pay a price.” The bigots never get tired of saying the quiet part out loud — that they want to alienate an already vulnerable community as much as they possibly can.
If Target wants people to know that this was an actual expression of the company’s values and not just a cynical cash grab, they’ll ignore the hate-fueled rabble rousers and promptly put Pride items back on the shelves. It’s up to us to apply pressure and persuade them to stand on the right side of history.
