DQC’s new vision ([link removed]) outlines a clear goal for state leaders to change their data systems with one core idea in mind: people need access to data.

To bring this vision to life, DQC’s latest infographic illustrates what happens when people have access to the data they need to make education and workforce decisions, moving from confusion to clarity.

For example:

Currently, state data systems are mainly a tool for collection and compliance—often clunky, hard to find, or out of date. As a result, Raj can’t find the information he needs to chart his path after high school and through education and workforce transitions. Raj, and people like him, enter the workforce straight out of high school with little information about future pathways and outcomes.

With changes to state data systems that enable data access, Raj can filter through the confusion and answer his questions to make informed decisions about his future. He looks at a career planning tool and based on the wage data he sees, goes to a local community college to get an additional certificate that allows him to advance in his field.

No two people will have the same journey through education and into the workforce. Empowering people with access to data ensures that every individual has the information they need to choose the best path for their own future.
