Hey John,
From the earth-shattering number of anti-trans bills introduced in our state houses to the anti-LGBTQ majority in the U.S. House focusing on rolling back equality, it's been a tough year for LGBTQ+ people.
But Pride Month is about fighting back - we should never forget the first Pride was a riot. Trans women of color and queer people of all backgrounds stood up against harassment and state violence to make themselves heard.
We're still fighting to ensure the rights they so tirelessly advocated for. And despite the bad headlines and continued attacks from the homophobes and transphobes, we're still marching forward.
So we want to know: how are YOU celebrating Pride Month this year?
Thanks to this community, we celebrated a historic number of LGBTQ+ elected officials this year. A record-number of out LGBTQ+ candidates were elected to the Chicago City Council, while Dina Nina Martinez-Rutherford won the election for Madison Common Council, becoming the first out trans woman ever elected in Madison, Wisconsin history.
Despite the bigots, we have a lot to be proud of! So take a minute and let us know - how are you celebrating and showing your Pride this month?
We have a lot of work left to do. But we can't do it without you. Thank you for supporting us and our candidates,
