John,

In case you missed the news, the 45th President of the United States has been indicted for the second time this year. This time, the charges relate to highly classified documents recovered from his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. There will be a lot of attempts to politicize these charges in the coming days, weeks, and months ahead. But as a former federal prosecutor who specialized in national security, I will tell you this: no one is above the law, and everyone charged with a crime deserves a fair and speedy trial.

The rule of law is a bedrock of American society. But, John, here’s what’s concerning me: our current congressman, Ken Calvert, is blindly loyal to far right radicals in Washington who defend their own no matter what the evidence will prove. We know that Calvert doesn’t have the spine to stand up to President Trump, even in the most extreme cases. In fact, when the Mar-a-Lago investigation was first announced, Calvert attacked law enforcement, claiming that the FBI had been infiltrated by “rot.”Calvert is a full-blown MAGA extremist. In 2022, he heavily touted Trump’s endorsement. Here’s what Trump had to say about Calvert:

“Congressman Ken Calvert is doing a fantastic job representing the people of California in Congress…Ken is a leader on National Security and Strongly Supports our Brave Military and Vets.” — President Trump

Just months later, Calvert voted for Kevin McCarthy’s debt ceiling proposal that would have defunded border security, defunded our local law enforcement agencies, and cut veterans’ health care benefits.

That’s right — Calvert is all partisan politics, no results for Riverside County. No respect for the law enforcement and intelligence community officers who put their lives on the line to protect our national security secrets. Now, I believe we can finally end his 30-year political career in 2024, but it’s going to take a lot of work.

Calvert has already raised over $1 million towards his 2024 campaign, and we can’t fall too far behind, even though we started later. That’s why I’m asking if you’ll split $10 or whatever you can spare between our campaign and the Voter Protection Project to flip this seat next November » ([link removed])

Now more than ever, our country needs us standing strong. Together.

— Will
