Dear John,
In just a few weeks—on June 30—First Liberty will wrap up another year on the frontlines of a major spiritual battle. A year that has been an all-out fight for our religious liberty.
This fight has been hard fought. And YOU have been a key player every step of the way.
In celebration of this year and our recent wins, I’m excited to share with you an upcoming anniversary that has been crucial for freedom. On June 27th, we’re celebrating one year since Coach Joe Kennedy’s Supreme Court victory!
I know it’s hard to believe that just last June we made history together at the Supreme Court with this landmark victory. This precedent setting case has blown open the door for fearless expression of faith.
So much so, we’re making June 27th First Freedom Day.
But Coach Kennedy’s victory isn’t the only Supreme Court victory we’re celebrating this year.
Because of God’s favor and your faithful support, we’ve won 7 cases at the Supreme Court expanding religious freedom in ways we haven’t experienced in over 50 years.
Some of the key cases that we’ve won at the Supreme Court include:
- Coach Joe Kennedy’s fight for the right to pray in public schools.
- Treat Children Fairly let religious schools participate in government funding programs, allowing more families to attend the school of their choice.
- The Bladensburg Peace Cross WWI veterans memorial is still standing because of this victory.
While we’re excited to celebrate what these victories mean for religious liberty, the fight to protect our first freedom is far from over.
Right now, we are in the fight of our lives. There are forces at work that are committed to stripping you of your right to practice your faith.
New enemies of faith have risen from the shadows in an effort to cancel faith completely.
Woke corporations are threatening the financial livelihood of their faith-based employees. They are quick to punish, demote and even fire religious members of their staff for expressing viewpoints that don’t conform to their radical Leftist orthodoxy.
We cannot afford to be silent while this fight wages on.
That’s why First Liberty is already on the frontlines in this fight.
We’re defending Lacey Smith and Marli Brown, two flight attendants who were fired by Alaska Airlines because of their Christian faith.
When they respectfully expressed deep concerns about Alaska Air’s support of the Equality Act, the airlines disparaged their beliefs and promptly fired them.
Not only are we fighting for religious employees like Lacey and Marli, but we’re also protecting faith-based business owners who are facing hostile treatment from out-of-control government agencies because of their beliefs.
Our clients Aaron and Melissa Klein were effectively forced to close their family-owned bakery because they declined a request to create a custom cake for a same-sex wedding.
Even though designing and crafting this cake would be forcing them to convey a message that conflicts with their faith, the state of Oregon decided to penalize the Kleins $135,000 and suggested that they need “rehabilitation” for simply running the family business according to their religious beliefs.
Bullying these small business owners into reinforcing viewpoints that violate their conscience flies in the face of our fundamental freedoms. We can’t allow such blatant religious hostility to take over our nation—a nation FOUNDED on the bedrock of religious liberty.
We have to end this hostility towards people of faith in the workplace now.
But to end the hostility, John, you and I must stand shoulder-to-shoulder in this crucial fight. This fight can’t be won without your full support.
The good news is this: First Liberty is uniquely positioned at the center of the effort because we know how to stand up to woke corporations and rogue government agencies.
Victories for Marli, Lacey, and Aaron and Melissa Klein could fully return your constitutional right to live and work according to your faith.
When we boldly fight together against these vicious attacks on our freedoms…I assure you, we will preserve our constitutional freedoms for generations to come.
And right now is the best time to team up with First Liberty in this critical fight. Our $300,000 Challenge Grant mulitplies the impact of your gift now through June 30th.
Yes, I’ll multiply my impact for freedom now >>
Together, we can fight and win against these enemies of faith. I pray you will join me and my team in this battle for our values, our Constitution and our nation.
Grateful for you,
Kelly
