Our Members are ensuring clean air and responsible refuse practices in every corner of the country.
John, it’s 2023 and our SEEC Members are still cleaning up Trump’s messes.
An ally only to big checks and deep pockets, the former president put pressure on the Environmental Protection Agency to ease up on regulations for oil and gas companies during his time in office — and because of it, they massively scaled back clean air protections for plastic waste recycling.
If their plan had come to fruition, mega-corporations would have had free rein to burn plastics to their heart’s content.
John, our Members won’t let Congress turn their back on farmers.
That’s why our Members, led by Rep. Jared Huffman (CA-02), have been pushing the EPA to reverse this proposal — and last month, the agency finally did.
This is a huge win for a laundry list of reasons, but ultimately, it boils down to a massive step in the right direction for climate justice.
We know that chemical recycling emits toxic air pollution — and it disproportionately hits our most vulnerable communities hardest. By moving the EPA to reverse their “burn, baby, burn!” plastic waste proposal, our Members are ensuring clean air and responsible refuse practices in every corner of the country.
Our fight isn’t over yet, though. The world is making twice as much plastic as it was two decades ago, and plastic production is expected to triple by 2060. All the while, only about 9 percent of our plastic waste is recycled successfully.
It’s going to take more climate fighters like Rep. Huffman and our SEEC PAC Members in Congress to address our ongoing plastic crisis straight from the source, so we’re counting on you to help us grow our clean energy coalition in 2024.
Our Members’ work wouldn’t be possible without your support, John. As we gear up for another tough cycle ahead, we hope you know how critical your voice (and your vote!) is in our efforts to elect a green majority in 2024.
Onward!
— SEEC PAC Team
Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
