Rep. Duarte has enthusiastically backed Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and voted for McCarthy’s plan to slash funding for the Social Security Administration. Now, McCarthy is planning to stick it to seniors even more, proposing a commission to slash Social Security and Medicare benefits.

Rep. Duarte’s constituents voted for President Biden by more than 10%―they deserve to know if their Representative wants to cut Social Security. That’s why we’re putting up a billboard, and getting seniors in the streets in front of Duarte’s office!

Duarte was one of the Republicans who was eager to cut Social Security and Medicare in the debt ceiling hostage crisis. In February, Duarte claimed that we need to “quit putting [Social Security] on the credit card” and “have an adult discussion” — disregarding the fact that Social Security doesn’t add a single penny to the deficit.¹

McCarthy’s backroom commission doesn’t exist yet. And if this tour is a success, it never will.
