Governor DeWine Appoints Stevenson to Barberton Municipal Court
(COLUMBUS, Ohio)?Ohio Governor Mike DeWine today announced the appointment of Diana Stevenson to the Barberton Municipal Court.?
Stevenson will assume office on July 10, 2023 and will be taking the seat formerly held by Jill Flagg Lanzinger, who was?elected to the 9th District Court of Appeals. She will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and need to run for election in November 2023 to retain the seat for a subsequent term..?
Stevenson began her career in law in 1993 as a judicial attorney in multiple counties for a number of judges, including a year as a judicial attorney at the Supreme Court of Ohio.? In July of 1996, Stevenson became an assistant prosecutor at the Summit County Prosecutor's Office, a role she held for 4 years. She then served 12 years as a magistrate for the Summit County Probate Court.? In 2012, she was appointed to be the clerk of court for the Barberton Municipal Court. Stevenson won election in 2013, and reelection in 2015 and 2021.?
Before her law degree, Stevenson earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Akron Honors College. She has also been a certified court manager since 2014.?
In her community, Stevenson is a board member of Magic City Kiwanis, the current chair of the Tuscora Park Health and Wellness Foundation, and volunteers for the Barberton Area Community Ministries.?
