After years of debate over how students learn to read, math is having a moment. And there is no shortage of opinion on what kind of math should be taught when, and who is being left out. Nearly 500 Hechinger Report readers responded to a survey we sent out asking what concerns people about math education (it’s not too late: we are still collecting ideas). Their thoughtful feedback ranged widely, from how to boost lagging performance and close racial achievement gaps to thoughts about math anxiety to ideas on helping students catch up after the pandemic.
