Pride Month is in full swing! The past couple weeks have been full of remarkable celebrations of LGBTQ+ love and history.
Sadly, this year’s Pride Month comes at a time when we are seeing an increase in attacks on gay and trans youth across the country, often in the form of bigoted legislation that seeks to strip them of their rights and control every aspect of their lives.
I have long been a believer that everyone should be able to live their lives fully, freely, and without fear of backlash or persecution. That’s why this year, I’m choosing to celebrate Pride Month by continuing to fight to protect LGBTQ+ people in Congress, and make it known: Legislation that restricts their rights and polices their bodies will never win.
My team has put together a petition that demands extremist Republican lawmakers stop their attacks on gay and trans youth. We need to be protecting young people and encouraging them to express themselves however they see fit, not legislating away their right to exist.
