Since then, it has morphed into an extremist right-wing ideological stronghold that has systematically undermined our values.

They have relentlessly chipped away at voting rights, eroded reproductive freedom, and dismantled key protections for marginalized communities. Their rulings have favored corporations over workers, billionaires over ordinary citizens, and partisan interests over the principles of justice and fairness.

But it's not just the Court's decisions that are deeply troubling; it's the very process through which they are made. The secretive nature of the shadow docket, where important rulings are issued without proper public scrutiny or transparent deliberation, denies Americans the opportunity to participate in shaping our laws.

Adding to these concerns are the growing scandals surrounding conservative justices. Justices Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barret, and John Roberts have all been reported to have conflicts of interest with various cases they've ruled on, with Clarence Thomas as the most egregious offender.

The Judiciary Act of 2023, reintroduced by a group of Democratic lawmakers, proposes to add four seats to the Supreme Court. This bill aims to restore balance, integrity, and independence to the Court, which has been politicized and delegitimized by partisan interests.

Court expansion is not a matter of political convenience but a pressing necessity to preserve our democracy. The Court's decisions shape the lives of all Americans, irrespective of their political affiliations. Therefore, it must operate with transparency, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law.
