I grew up in Ohio, where summertime means finally getting outside and enjoying the sun. So you can imagine my shock when I moved to Nevada 30 years ago and realized that here, summer means staying in and enjoying the AC!

But now, three successful campaigns later, I have another reason to be wary of summertime: the dreaded “Summer Slump,” when fundraising reaches its lowest point of the year.

Look, I get it: Kids are out of school, and it’s the perfect time for a family trip to escape the Las Vegas heat. Folks just aren’t going to be online and engaged quite as much as usual.

Unfortunately, that means June is also one of the most difficult fundraising months for grassroots campaigns like ours, and my team and I have already noticed a steep decline.

Next year’s elections in Nevada are likely to be the most expensive in our state’s history, so we simply can’t afford to cut our campaign budget right when things begin to heat up.

Please, will you rush a $25 donation right away to turn our fundraising numbers around and help us hit our End-of-Quarter goal? We can’t afford a “Summer Slump” right when the GOP are ramping up their attacks.
