In recent years, he’s made headlines after seven of his top aides and deputy AGs accused him of bribery and abuse of office. In fact, he’s so self-interested that his own party has brought 20 articles of impeachment against him, including obstruction of justice and disregard of official duty. It's heartwarming to witness such dedication to ethical practices.

Paxton is completely out of line and has allegedly been breaking laws and violating ethics left and right. The role of the People’s Lawyer is to protect the vulnerable and hold the powerful accountable — something Paxton clearly has ignored in his time as AG. We’re in the business of electing Dem AGs who will fulfill the responsibilities of their office, not abuse their power. MSNBC commentator Chris Hayes said it best: "Paxton is basically an ethical trainwreck." AGs must put the rule of law first. But Paxton can't seem to tie his shoes without finding another way to allegedly abuse his power and it’s made even worse when Republicans like Ted Cruz and Donald Trump drop everything to defend his actions.
