WMATA wants your opinion on its next budget

Alexandria commuters may get more water taxi options

The Alexandria City Council will consider a plan to expand the hours of operation for the Potomac water taxi and add fare reimbursement so commuters can get to DC by boat. This plan would be similar to how the water taxi operated during last year’s Metro shutdown.  (James Cullum / ALX Now)

Scooters not allowed on sidewalks in parts of Arlington

Six Arlington neighborhoods have banned riding scooters on the sidewalk, and by March they will install signs to tell riders to get into the protected bike lanes. The scoooter ordnance could eventually be applied in neighborhoods without bike lanes for scooter riders to use.  (Noel Gasca / WAMU)

MoCo residents want better walking access

Arlington’s transportation commission wants less parking

The transportation commission unanimously decided that the Arlington Court Suites Hotel plan to convert the building into 180 new apartments with 171 parking spots has too much parking. Virginia’s legislature moved a ton of new bills

The newly Democratic legislature beat the February 11th deadline to pass a slew of bills, including expanding absentee ballots and voting hours, raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025, and raising the gas tax, along with many other progressive actions.   (Daniella Cheslow / WAMU)

DC sues a landlord for voucher discrimination

Historic LGBTQ sites will be recognized in DC

Statehood advances in Congress

Statehood efforts hit a high water mark after the House Oversight Committee passed a DC statehood bill, setting up a vote by the full House of Representatives.  While the bill is expected to pass the Democratic controlled House, it is not likely to survive in the Republican controlled Senate.  (Rachel Kurzius / DCist)
