Too Hot! Too High! Teach-In and Art Action
Rescheduled to June 14 due to climate crisis conditions
"Our Climate Crisis rally was canceled, due to the Climate Crisis," Keynote Speaker Raya Salter for the 6/8 Too Hot! Too High! Teach-In and Art Action noted in this astute article in Common Dreams. As always, we have persisted and rescheduled to Wednesday 6/14. This opportunity to hear from Raya Salter of the Energy Justice Law & Policy Center, Kim Frazcek of SANE Energy and No North Brooklyn Pipeline, and Briana Carbajal of WEACT for Environmental Justice, is more critical than ever! We hope to see you there. RSVP for the teach-in here.
Wildlife and marine life
tell our congressional representatives to act
While Congress has been notoriously dilatory about addressing the climate crisis, a couple of solid bills now before it have garnered bipartisan support and so a chance of passing. The Recovering America's Wildlife Act would promote and protect biodiversity on land. The Reinvesting in Shoreline Economies and Ecosystems Act (RISEE) would have the Federal Government share fees for offshore wind leases with adjacent states, which would use the money for coastal restoration and protection. Let's get all our Brooklyn delegates to Congress on board! Sign up for our June 15 call relay.

Summer of '23: The Heat Project
The World Meteorological Organization predicts that global climate patterns will be strongly affected by the return of El Nino in the Pacific this year. This means a higher than average number of 90-degree days here in Brooklyn. So this summer 350Brooklyn will be out in neighborhoods on weekends to share information about what people can do to cope with the heat, and what they can do to address the larger problem, global warming. Want to help? Email Sara G. at [email protected].

Stand against defining dissent as "terrorism"
Last week three organizers with the Atlanta Solidarity Fund, a community group that organizes bail for strangers, including the many people arrested associated with the Stop Cop City resistance, were arrested and charged with money laundering and fraud. Since the killing of the activist Tortuguita by Georgia State Troopers this past January, 42 people have been charged with "domestic terrorism" (some of whom were merely attending a music festival in the forest that is the focus of this ongoing struggle.) This use of the judicial system to equate any protest movement with terrorism is becoming increasingly common in the US and is a threat to us all. Learn more about what you can do!
