Last week, I talked with NPR about how fringe right-wing conspiracy theorists harmed a trusted organization that helps states fight voter fraud. It's a stark reminder of the threats we face in defending our democracy.

The tactics used by these extremists are unfortunately all too familiar.

First, they spread lies and disinformation targeting respected organizations and individuals.

Then, their baseless narratives led to a pressure campaign for Secretaries of State to withdraw from the organization. Sadly, eight states were affected by this pressure and withdrew.

This incident serves as a disturbing example of the influence extremists can have on our democracy.
