During the school year, thousands of low-income students eat free or reduced-price meals. Once summer begins, kids no longer receive these meals causing households with school-age children to experience even higher rates of food insecurity. While the Summer Meals Programs lessens the challenge of providing these extra meals, many families aren't aware of these resources and how to access them.

At the Coalition Against Hunger we recognize the increased risk of food insecurity in the summer, and we're working to break down the barriers to access free summer meals and snacks for children. Last year were able to:

  • Restart our Summer Meals Hotline (215-770-4659) to answer questions about summer meals and direct people to free meals in their neighborhood
  • Connect thousands of families to free meal sites with our Summer Meals Map - a 262% increase in the use of our Map

This year we are working to reach more families through our Summer Meals Hotline and Map, and we need your support to keep doing this important work.

Make a donation today to help us connect more families with nutritious meals and snacks that keep kids fueled for the summer!
