Hi there, my name is Aurora. 👋
I applied for DACA in 2021 — just as Judge Hanen’s first decision against DACA stopped new DACA applications like mine from being processed.
Not having DACA has made life an everyday struggle for me and my family. Everything from being able to find work or make ends meet, to accessing health care and higher education is affected by not having DACA.
My two sisters support my parents thanks to their jobs. Both of my parents are undocumented like I am, so it’s difficult for them to find work. Without a work permit, I’m limited on job opportunities which makes it hard to pitch in with my own paycheck.
My mom has a thyroid condition and my sister has Leukemia. Frequent visits to the doctor and pricey medication means it can be tough to make ends meet.
Even my education is impacted, since college tuition can be extremely expensive and I’m shut out of scholarship and financial aid opportunities. I received an Associate's Degree, but now I want to go back for my Bachelor's.
For millions like me, DACA is not enough. Whether we were blocked from the program by Judge Hanen or ineligible to begin with, only permanent protections will make us feel safe and give us opportunities to thrive.
The possibilities are endless, but only if we secure more than temporary protections. Before the 11th Anniversary of DACA this Thursday, I’m joining United We Dream Action to fight for a pathway to citizenship — for ALL undocumented people, regardless of DACA status.
Friend, will you join me? Make a donation to join our fight for permanent protections on the eve of DACA’s anniversary.

The 11th Anniversary of DACA coming up on June 15th is also a reminder of the power our community has to win real change. Activists and allies fought relentlessly to win DACA, and we’ll need to come together again to win permanent protections.
Permanent protections would mean I’m no longer in constant fear of being deported. I could continue my studies, help support my family, and not worry if there will be food on the table. I could do great things without the limitations of being undocumented and unprotected. 🧡
Thank you for letting me share my story and joining me in pursuit of a better future for all 11 million undocumented people.
