These keynoters have got their facts straight

An investigative journalist, a misinformation scholar and a social media leader will be the keynote speakers at this year's GlobalFact10, the world’s largest fact-checking summit.

Poynter’s International Fact-Checking Network, in partnership with SNUFactCheck, will host this annual conference June 28-30 in Seoul, South Korea, for fact-checkers, journalists, academics and other partners in the global fight against misinformation. Virtual tickets are $100 each, though IFCN’s verified signatories can attend for free — register or read here for more.

Dr. Eun-Ju Lee of Seoul National University will keynote the first day by sharing her research and expertise on what causes people to fall for mis- and disinformation.

Investigative journalist and author Jessikka Aro, known for her work identifying Russia’s misinformation efforts, will speak on the theme of elections and democracy on the second day of the conference.

Finally, attendees will hear from Yoel Roth, the former head of trust and safety at Twitter. Roth will take attendees behind the scenes of Twitter during Elon Musk’s first weeks in charge and offer a candid assessment of how social media companies are faring against mis- and disinformation.

In its 10th year, GlobalFact celebrates a decade of convening fact-checkers from around the world to mobilize the collective power of truth, transparency and accountability as a counteroffensive to the rash of misinformation that’s challenging citizens across the world.

Executive Leadership Summit

Online program, Oct. 18-20

Poynter’s 2023 Executive Leadership Summit will provide the space, tools and connections to help you prioritize your vision and values as a leader. This is your chance to surround yourself with a small cohort of other executive leaders who are experiencing the same media leadership challenges you are — and discover solutions together. Poynter faculty Sitara Nieves and Cheryl Carpenter will help you reflect, reset and focus on your priorities.

Participants will convene online Oct. 18-20, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern. Each session will kick off with a keynote speaker, followed by an exploration of leadership topics, guided group discussions, self-assessment activities and purposeful breaks. Up to a month after the program concludes, you’ll have the opportunity to schedule a one-hour personalized coaching session with an executive coach to continue to focus on your leadership.
