This is worth a reminder! I wanted to make sure you saw the below email celebrating last month’s bipartisan PA House passage of two pillars in our Common Agenda to End Gun Violence. It’s not too late to reach out to your Representative, who sadly voted NO on both of these bills, to hold them accountable for their actions. Let them know how disappointed you are by their decision to reject life-saving legislation and that you won’t give up on this effort. It’s crucial you do this now as we prepare for the next round in this fight.
"You won the day." That's a direct quote from one of the country's most vocal gun extremists, known for callously sporting a AR-15 lapel pin, as he turned to our organizers and begrudgingly admitted defeat today in the PA Capitol. Just a few hours ago, your advocacy helped us make history as the PA House of Representatives passed two pillars of our Common Agenda to End Gun Violence! With bipartisan support, they sent the Extreme Risk Protection Order1 and universal background checks2 bills over to the PA Senate. Unfortunately, your State Rep. voted NO on both of those bills. They need to know that you are paying attention and are profoundly disappointed by their opposition to gun safety. Can you take two minutes to send them a message of displeasure?
While today was absolutely a historic victory, we also saw the power of our opposition and their cynical narrative. We unfortunately narrowly lost the vote on our lost and stolen gun reporting bill3 by a razor-thin margin of 101-100. And the safe storage bill4 wasn't brought to a vote today. This is why it's critical that your Rep. hears from you right now as we celebrate our two big wins tonight and prepare for the next round in this fight. It's a matter of life and death, and we need your voice now more than ever.
Sincerely, Adam Garber Executive Director CeaseFirePA Action
