He was suspended and threatened with termination for expressing a biblical view of marriage on his private Facebook account. Kersey resigned rather than allow his superiors to muzzle his religious beliefs as a condition of his employment.

FRC garnered nearly 35,000 petition signatures in support of the former police officer's First Amendment rights and delivered them to Port Wentworth city officials. Jacob Kersey took a stand on God's Word, and through your financial support, FRC -- and thousands of others -- were able to stand with him.

We cannot expect to stay comfortable behind the walls of our churches and homes. Hostility is even growing against churches in the United States. But even in the face of hostility, we should follow Jesus' encouragement to His followers to be beacons of His truth when He said, "Let your light shine before others" (Matthew 5:16, ESV).

We want others to experience the abundant life that Jesus gave His life to secure, but each of us must do our part by taking our place on the spiritual walls of our nation.

To impact the culture and direction of our nation, we must speak the truth and counter lies. That's why FRC is investing in expanding our media outreach through The Washington Stand news outlet, special broadcasts, daily Washington Watch TV and radio show, studio expansions, and a new podcast called "Outstanding."
