You will not believe this story about my grandfather
When I am not out on the campaign trail, I try to keep up with my favorite sport: basketball. 🏀
Right now, we are in the middle of the NBA Finals. In fact, tonight could be the deciding game. So In honor of that, I want to tell you a quick story.
After I do that, I am going to ask you to chip in to my campaign to flip NY-03 and defeat George Santos — so if you are not a basketball fan or you are just short on time, will you take a moment to donate before you log off?
You could say that love for basketball runs in my family, starting with my grandfather, Lionel.
He started out playing college basketball, before being called to serve his country in World War II. There, he overcame his fear of heights by signing up to be a paramedic — jumping out of airplanes on D-Day.
Throughout the war, he held onto his love for basketball and after he returned home, he went on to become the 13th shortest player in NBA history.
Though I never got to meet my grandfather, the values he picked up on the basketball court and the battlefield have been passed down through my family and are an integral part of who I am: teamwork, service, and sacrifice.
These same values are guiding our campaign — but like any good basketball team, it will take all of us coming together to win.
We are up against George Santos, his MAGA cronies, and the millions of dollars they are going to spend to defend him. To be able to go toe-to-toe with them and win this race, we need the resources to out-organize and out-work them. So I'm personally asking: can you chip in $5 now to help drive our campaign forward?
