With a record number of anti-LGBTQ+ bills moving through legislatures across the country, we urgently need to replace hateful and dangerous extremists with dedicated and compassionate leaders who will work toward protecting our essential rights.

That's why today, we're showcasing three of our trailblazing LGBTQ+ Emerge alums who are championing equality and fairness at every level!

Councilmember Krystal Oriadha (Emerge Maryland) won her 2022 election to become the first openly LGBTQ+ person to serve on the Prince George’s County Council. She continues her path of deep community engagement and advocacy and uplifts her constituents’ calls for affordable housing, access to quality health care, and equal rights. 

When Rep. Brianna Titone (Emerge Colorado) won her first election, she became the first transgender lawmaker in Colorado. Now, she’s serving her third term in the Colorado State house, advocating for working families and raising the bar for protecting LGBTQ+ Coloradans.  

Judge Shannon Baldwin (Emerge Texas) made history as the first Black and LGBTQ+ woman to run and preside over the Harris County court. Judge Baldwin holds fast to the belief that everyone deserves to have their rights protected. She is a staunch advocate for the wellbeing of those who have been harmed and is a champion for fairness in the courtroom.

Across the country, more LGBTQ+ Emerge leaders are stepping up to run for office, unseat GOP extremists, and defend their LGBTQ+ constituents.
