Dear friend,

Kristalina Georgieva is one of the most powerful leaders in global finance. We are pushing the debt crisis to the top of her agenda. Thousands of us sent the message that it's time to bail out people not banks.

Many countries are being forced to prioritise debt repayments while their citizens suffer cuts to basic services like healthcare and education.

Problem debts need to be written off or brought down to sustainable levels, but the IMF are supplying new loans that fuel the debt cycle, without pushing for existing debts to be restructured. It’s only by keeping up the pressure on the IMF that we’ll win change.

Unfortunately she didn’t address all the points we are calling for. But the fact that the leader of the world’s most powerful global financial institution responded to the campaign shows we are having a real impact.

We must carry on pushing to make sure unfair debts won’t stop countries spending money on essentials like health and education. We will continue to fight for debt justice.

Thank you for all that you do,
