Ukraine’s military said on Monday that it had retaken an additional village near a string of small settlements along a river in eastern Ukraine, an area that has been at the epicenter of fighting as the counteroffensive to push back Russian forces has taken shape, as the NYT reports

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said he was “holding hands firmly” with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the latest sign of the deepening ties between the two countries as Moscow has faced isolation from much of the West, as the WSJ reports
