Last week, Matt Dolan unveiled one of the boldest, most conservative budget reform packages in Ohio history. The historic bill, dubbed by advocates as “transformational in nature” balances the budget, cuts taxes, consolidates tax brackets, provides tax relief for Ohio small businesses, ushers in universal school choice, and supports Ohio law enforcement among other notable initiatives.
Americans for Prosperity branded Dolan’s budget as “bold tax reform” and “…the best budget product yet.”
Americans for Tax Reform call it a “game changer.”
At the same time, Democrats and liberal special interest groups wasted no time in attacking the proposal.
Analysts were quick to note that Matt Dolan’s proposal is “the most conservative package that will exist during Ohio’s budget process.” While more work remains to be done before final passage later this month, Dolan said:
“I’m proud of the conservative reform initiatives in our budget. Ohioans will keep more of their hard-earned money as we build safer communities and expand opportunities for every child to maximize their potential. We must uphold our promise to those who sent us here, and act to empower people, not government.”
