John,
As we enter summer break and reflect on the past school year, I want to take a moment to highlight the crucial role parents play in their children's education and reaffirm my commitment to protecting parents' rights.
I firmly believe that parents have the inherent right to be actively involved in their children's education. I understand that no one knows their child better than a parent, and decisions about their education should be made at the family level, not dictated by bureaucratic systems or influenced by teacher unions.
Having witnessed the dedication of my wife, a retired school teacher, and as a father and grandfather of six, I deeply understand the significance of parental involvement in shaping a child's educational journey.
I am proud to share that Republicans in Congress are already taking meaningful steps to empower parents and ensure their voices are heard. We are championing policies that emphasize parental choice, giving families the freedom to choose the educational options that best align with their values and aspirations for their children.
In Washington, we passed the PARENTS BILL OF RIGHTS, which declares:
- Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught;
- Parents have the right to be heard;
- Parents have the right to see the school budget and spending;
- Parents have the right to protect their child’s privacy;
- Parents have the right to keep their children safe;
Through expanding school choice initiatives, advocating for homeschooling rights, and supporting innovative approaches to education, we are working to return power to the hands of parents.
We will continue to give parents a voice in their children's’ future. Can I count on you to join me in this fight?
