The last school bell rings. Cries of joy. Smiles, hugs and excitement for the months ahead. The last day of school and the beginning of summer break should be a time to celebrate.
But for millions of children living in poverty in rural America, it can mean the end of reliable meals and regular exercise, access to books, art supplies and a nurse to help them when they’re sick. It means losing up to two months of what they learned during the school year in what’s called the “summer slide.”
For these children, summer isn’t fair, John. We believe every child deserves a future, and we know you also care about creating brighter futures for those in need.
Thanks for taking a moment to learn more about this critical issue and for everything you do to support children in need. Together, we can and will build a fairer world for all children.
