Hello,
This week, I discuss how learning to treat yourself properly helps your relationship with your spouse and builds a foundation for your kids. Then, Dr. Steve Templeton joins me to talk about the behavioral immune system, treatment during COVID, and fear versus truth. In the archives, I revisit a conversation I had with a former mobster about his father.

Why Treating Each Other Properly Creates a Platform for Having Children
How do you treat someone in your moment-to-moment interactions so that the relationship blossoms into continual love? That is a good thing to aim at. And there is no difference between doing that and treating yourself properly. They are the same thing.
You can imagine if you treated yourself properly and your partner properly, and you really learned how to do that — this is a deep problem, and you have to be challenged to do it constantly — first of all, there would be nothing better that can possibly happen to you. And second, you would have the perfect platform for having children.
Because now the children come into the world and there are two of you. You are side by side, and you are treating each other like you are extensions of each other, which you are, because you are stuck with this person forever. Then the child has the joint amalgam of two personalities that have had to bargain and negotiate to produce unity. And the child is introduced to the fact of that unity, which is the higher-order structure that governs the marriage.
