Hi folks,
When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, conservative justices suggested that Obergefell v. Hodges , the case that established marriage equality in the United States, could be next.
So I got to work. I pushed hard to get the Respect for Marriage Act through Congress, and in December of last year, I was proud to join President Biden as he signed the bill into law. Marriage equality became the indisputable law of the land. It was overdue recognition that love is love, no matter what.
This was a win — but there’s still so much to be done in the fight for equality and LGBTQ+ rights.
We were able to pass the Respect for Marriage Act because of Democratic majorities in the House and the Senate. We could lose that in 2024.

Every June, we have a chance to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community here at home and across the country. Colorado is better because of the diversity in it.
As we celebrate, let’s also recommit to the fight for equality.
In the last couple of years, we’ve seen an onslaught of legislation going after LGBTQ+ rights. These attacks — based in bigotry and fear — are unacceptable.
